Monsoons are almost over and while we love the cool temperatures and the drizzly weekends, we’re not huge fans of the humidity that comes along with it. The main reason for this being the havoc it creates on our skin and hair when can make most of us unaware of different way for post monsoon haircare and skincare.
I cannot deny that monsoons are my favourite season of the year, but when this season descends every year, I prepare to take a lot more care of my skin and hair. Oily skin and scalp can cause acne, greasy hair and dandruff. So its important to take care during this season. With that post monsoon haircare is more essential.
Here are some of my tips post monsoon haircare tips that help me keep my skin and especially my hair nice and healthy during the rains.
-
Scalp Facials:
Yes, they are a real thing. These are just like the facials you get on your face but they are on your scalp. And just like how facials help your skin revitalize and rejuvenate, scalp facials help you generates new and healthy hair follicles that in turn make your hair healthier, glossier and hydrated. In a scalp facial, a technician will use a microscope to identify the type of your hair follicle and then design a treatment that is best suited for your hair type. It is a good idea to get a scalp facial just before the monsoons, so that your hair is rejuvenated and can face this harsh season head on.
-
Wash your hair regularly:
Contrary to popular belief, washing your hair every day is actually harmful to your hair as it dries the scalp and makes your hair weaker. But at the same time, you need to keep your scalp clean during this season, so make sure you wash your hair, at least two times a week. And always wash your hair every time it gets wet in the rain. Rainwater can be harmful to your hair as it contains dirt and pollution.

Oil your hair:
Champis are the most underrated hair mask out there. One hour of hot oil massage can give you the same hydration and smoothness that a good hair mask can. Coconut oil is the best when it comes to hair care. So sit down and let your mom, nani or dadi give you that head massage she’s been pestering you to get since forever.
-
Avoid heat treatment:
Heat treatments like straightening, blow drying and curling can have a drying effect on your hair. So especially during the monsoons, avoid styling your hair with heat and go all natural instead.
