I was a little bummed when I couldn’t attend the makeup session organized before the Bobbi Brown store launch. However, they made it up to me by rescheduling my Makeup session. The first thing I noticed about the plush new store in High street phoenix is the interiors. It was nicely done & had a homely feel to it. I was informed that it was inspired by Bobbi’s kitchen. Who would have thought that an idea this simple could transform the look & feel of a store!

Bobbi Brown stores provide makeup lessons ranging from “How to look pretty in 5 minutes” to “How to create smokey eyes”. You can select from a list of options provided. These lessons cater to the needs of different women. You can take an appointment with them & get your makeup done at no extra cost . I liked that customers get to experience the product first-hand before purchasing it. I was quite intrigued about how to create smokey eyes & decided to take up a lesson on it. My makeup artist Madilon Bos who is an education manager at Bobbi Brown (Benelux) explained each & every step in an efficient manner. I requested her to teach me an enhanced version of my usual look (i.e a winged eyeliner).
Here’s a step by Step process on how to create this look (Total time: 15-20 minutes):
Groom your brows
Madilon used the Perfectly defined long-wear brow pencil to fill in the tiny gaps between my eyebrows & also to keep it in place.
Prime your lids
Moving on, she used the Bobbi Brown long-wear eye base before using the eye shadow so that my eye makeup doesn’t budge the entire day. Also, she used the Hydrating eye cream under my eyes to moisturize it.
Shade ‘em up
The previous step was followed by Bobbi Brown eye shadow in steel on my lower lid using an eye shadow brush
Lined out
Here comes the fun part! It has always been quite a task to make both the wings of the eyeliner equal. Madilon used the well-known Bobbi brown gel eyeliner in Black using a brush. She told me to follow the path of my lower eye lash line to create a wing in the corners of my eye. This was one of the most useful trick as it saves a lot of time.
Magical sparkles
I was a little hesitant on trying out sparkles because I always like to keep my eye makeup matte. She suggested to try subtle sparkles for change & I actually ended up liking it. She applied the Bobbi brown Sparkle eye shadow in Cement using an angled brush on my crease.
Lash out
The Bobbi brown smokey eyes mascara is a gem because it makes your lashes extremely long & thick. Just use your fingers to remove the excess mascara so that it doesn’t get clumped.
Finishing touches
To finish off with the eye makeup, she brushed off the little eyeshadow bits under my eyes followed by a Tinted eye brightener. When it comes to makeup products, it’s quite tough to convince me but this little product changed the way I look at concealers completely. I was told by many makeup artists to use layers & layers of concealers to cover any imperfection under the eyes. On the contrary, all we need is a right colour corrector to hide the darkness under the eyes. In this case, a peach colour corrector would instantly diminish the darkness around the eyes.
I was quite satisfied with the final look because it was an enhanced version of my usual eye makeup. Madilon did an amazing job & guess what? The makeup lasted the entire day. No kidding!
