In today’s world, there are just 2 body types. Either you’re skinny or plus size. There’s no in-between at all! Every single day I come across websites that talk about body positivity and acceptance. I see listicles featuring plus size models and bloggers. I read about girls who’re labeled “Plus size” or “curvy” and articles that talk about how they’re so “confident”. Well..what has confidence got to do with your size? “Oh you’re so skinny but you’re so confident!” How would you feel if someone said that to you? Isn’t it passive aggressive?

I am all for confidence but what is up with these websites that blatantly label girls based on their size? I have rarely seen articles about “10 skinny bloggers you should follow” or any other body type being focused on. Where is the diversity? Do we see articles about Curvy Men or plus size Men. What is curvy anyway? Everyone has curves. According to google, the meaning of curves is as follows : a line or outline which gradually deviates from being straight for some or all of its length.
There’s so much more to women than the clothing size we wear. I refuse to label myself because I find it silly. I am not defined by my size, my skin colour or how I tall I am. There’s so much more to me than just the way I look. Did you know? Plus size is term used for Models who’re above the standard size but nowadays they have started using the term for bloggers as well. If you’re over a size Small / Medium, you’re considered plus size. Well..that sounds ridiculous, doesn’t it? Bloggers were meant to break the stereotypes of “Fashion is just for the tall and skinny”. Bloggers became popular because we’re relatable. If we looked and published content similar to magazines, why should you be reading blogs anyway!
It’s time we question these ideologies and not accept what we’re provided with
I have been in the blogging world for 7 years and having said that, never have I felt different. I have worked with various brands and pushed myself to create the best content possible. It’s the society that’s telling me that I am different because I am not a size small or I am not the size of a typical model. Time and again I have spoken about this on my Social Media because I feel that people are blindly following a trend just because it’s fed to us by popular websites. It’s time we question these ideologies and not accept what we’re provided with. My blog has always been for all irrespective of their size, age, gender or religious beliefs and it will be for everyone forever. I don’t differentiate and expect people not to either.
In the end, accept your body for what it is and work on it if you’re in the process of making it better. However, do not define yourself solely on your size. You’re so much more than that!
