Curls and humidity don’t go hand in hand. Being born and brought up in one of the most humid and polluted cities in the world, I have grown up to get used to my big curly hair. As a child, I used to loathe my hair because according to the society “Silky straight hair” was beautiful but curly hair was not. I didn’t find any curly haired girls in Advertisements shown in India as well. I am talking about real curls and not those tong styled ones.

When I entered college, that’s when I genuinely started embracing my moody curly hair. This was the time when I found the right products to maintain my tresses. I remember at 19, I visited the Mad-o-wot salon for a haircut. Back then, I had a short curly bob (I had rebonded my hair and decided to cut all my hair off to go back to the roots)

As soon as I entered the salon, the owner Sapna Bhavnani told me that I don’t need a haircut because my curls looked perfect. She even asked me how I styled it. Well..I am sure she doesn’t remember it but I do, as it made a huge impact in how I saw my curls.

Well..I have learnt to live with my curls by embracing its mood swings. I have type 2C to 3A curls (You can read more about the type of curls HERE) and I use the following products to tame them / keep them in place.

SHAMPOO / CONDITIONER

Garnier Soy Milk Shampoo & Conditioner:

One of the most amazing products I have come across. One fine day I decided to randomly pick these up as I was running low on Shampoo / Conditioner. It keeps my curly hair looking Smooth and tangle-free. Definitely worth a try!

LEAVE-IN CREAM

TIGI Bed head After Party

I have been using this product for years and it’s one leave-in cream I completely trust. Not once has it disappointed me or kept my hair feeling lifeless or crunchy. It makes my hair super smooth and manageable.

SERUM

Wella SP Luxe Oil Reconstructive Elixir

This serum smells like a dream! If you want to keep your ends smooth and your hair smelling good, this is what you should go for. A little goes a long way and this bottle is more than enough for the whole year.

HAIR DRYER

Babyliss hair dryer

Babyliss has always been my favourite brand. I own almost 3-4 hair tools from Babyliss and they never disappoint me. This hair dryer again is a winner as it does the job + it’s lightweight so you can travel with it.

Tangle Teezer

Curly hair and tangles / frizz go hand in hand. I always detangle my hair in the shower after applying the conditioner and NEVER brush it when it’s dry. The Tangle teezer helps to get rid of all the knots in one go. No brushing your hair over and over again!

I hope this post helped all the people who send me questions about their curly tresses. If you still have any queries or any useful tips for curly haired girls, leave a comment below!
