We’ve entered that part of the year again, when every other day is a new festival to celebrate. We’re all in the mood to party and every weekend is a chance to get away from our busy offices and escape to new exciting places for some fun. It happens every year during the festive season, and we’re sure at this point there are a number of research studies that prove that productivity goes significantly down in the second half of the year.

Just because it’s a given, doesn’t mean there’s nothing one can do about it. There are ways to increase productivity and improve your work during a time when there is nothing but partying on your mind. Here are some tips that will help you improve at your work.

  • Make To-Do Lists:

As easy as it sounds, putting things down on paper can really help you get to them faster. When you have clear goals mapped out for the day, there is a lesser chance of you deviating or procrastinating while you work. Cut up your work for the day into smaller, doable chunks and set a step-by-step path to achieving them through a to-do list.

  • Create a routine:

A set routine can really help you clear your mind. If you condition your mind to focus on a routine, it will only focus on the routine and not what you’re going to wear to the party on Friday or what you should pack for the trip you’ve booked for next long weekend. This daily routine will not only help you during this time of the year, but also throughout the year.

  • Prioritise your work:

We know how difficult it can be to concentrate on work, when social media is full of people uploading vacation pictures, party updates and making plans, but if you prioritise your work and place it above all else, you can easily achieve goals. Set a daily goal for yourself every day and don’t leave work before you finish it.

  • Take a break from social media:

Social media can be a big promoter of procrastination. We usually begin our days with a good scroll through our Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Let that habit go. When you see things on social media, you carry them in your mind all day long and they can create a hindrance for your work.

There is much more that you can do, to increase your productivity in your day to day life. Things like self-care, meditation etc, can help you too. Do what works for you, just learn to condition your mind to concentrate on things that are important and let go of things that are not.
