Kajal, makeup is incomplete without it. For most of us, it is our first introduction to the world of makeup. When we were new-borns our mothers and grandmothers, adorned our faces with it to ward off evil. In our teens, kajal was also the only makeup most of us were allowed to wear to school. With time, we’ve been able to widen our foray into makeup. But kajal still remains a favourite and for a lot of us, a must-have in our makeup bags.

With age, we’ve graduated from kajal makeup to gel and liquid eyeliners. We’ve become so accustomed to wearing eye-makeup that if we go without it for even a day, we feel different. People around us ask us if we’re doing “okay”. Our faces just don’t look the same without it. But even though eye-makeup is such a hug part of our lives, do we really know it well.

The terms kajal and eye-liner are often used interchangeably when talking about eye makeup. But did you know that there’s a vast difference between the two?

To begin with, kajal is said to be one of the oldest forms of makeup. Not only is it used for adornment, but it has health benefits linked to it as well. Kajal is made with a blend of natural ingredients, mixed with soot, which gives it the black pigment. These natural ingredients are actually good for your eyes and help in shielding them from the harsh rays of the sun.  Apart from that, they also make your eyes look bigger and brighter.

Eyeliner on the other hand, is made with a host of chemicals, all of which are not safe for your eyes. But they do make your liner easier to use, easier to wash off, easier to manoeuvre and also long lasting. That’s why eyeliners are meant for your upper lashes and it is strongly advised that one should not use them on their waterline, unlike kajal.

So kajal makeup and eye-liner makeup, when do you wear which?

Kajal makeup is perfect for everyday wear. You can get a kajal stick which is easier to use than potted kajal. Just a dab of kajal and a light lip tint can brighten up your entire face. It’s easy and you only need two products, so touch-ups are also convenient.

Eye-liner makeup is appropriate if you what to go for bold eyes. You can do a lot with gel and liquid eye-liners, something that is not possible with kajal. You can create smokey eyes, graphic liner looks, and everyone’s favourite and all time classic the winged liner look. Eyeliners are long lasting, so if you have long day and little chance for breaks, then liners are perfect for you.

Kajal and eye-liners are both very effective makeup tools. Both do a perfect job of accentuating the eyes. And both are a must-have in a complete makeup kit.

So now that you know the difference, arm yourself with the right eye makeup and take on every day with the your makeup on point! Check out various types of kajal and eyeliner on Nykaa.com!!
