Following trends and styling during the monsoons is difficult. We’re all highly sceptical of wearing our best dresses, trousers and blouses during this season because a simple wrong step or passing car can ruin our outfits in just a few seconds. But the perils of the rainy season are no excuse for one to take fashion lightly during this season.

If you’re looking for some fashion inspo for this season, look to the west. Countries like the UK have rains throughout the year and the women from there will definitely have some styling hacks up their sleeve to help them look chic even when the weather is dreary. If you don’t want to do a great big research on British women and their fashion hacks, here are some hacks that we’ve come up with that will help you stay on point during this monsoon season.

  1. Coats: Living in the southern part of India, we hardly ever get to wear coats. We can’t always follow fashion trends of the west, because the weather never really allows us to wear pretty coats and scarves. But monsoons are the best time for you to indulge in this fashion trend. Trench coats and even rain coats are a great way to not only protect your outfit but also to make a fashion statement during the rains.
  2. Boots: Ditch your sandals, chappals and especially your floaters this monsoon season and instead invest in a good pair of wellington boots. Gone are the days when all we could find were those ghastly black gumboots. You can now find boots in various colours and patterns that will fit your style and outfits. Boots are also a great way to keep your feet safe from infections that are rampant during this season and also to make your pedicure last longer.

  1. Show off your legs: Monsoons are the best excuse to bring out all your dresses, shorts and skirts. There is nothing worse than having to sit in soaking wet jeans or trousers when you’ve just come in from the rains. Wear knee length dresses or skirts if you work in a formal environment, if you can afford to get quirky show off some more skin with hot pants and playsuits.

  1. Make a statement with accessories: When weather is dark and dreary we all need a pop of colour in our lives to lift our moods. Choose statement jewellery in poppy colours. You can even choose bags in bright colours. A great way to indulge in monsoon fashion is to choose a statement umbrella with bright prints and colours.

Monsoons aren’t a time to let the fashionista in you go into hibernation, they’re a time to get quirky with your fashion. So follow these styling hacks during this season and make the most of it.
