Often times, we visit the hair salon with a dreaded memory of our previous hair cut/colour. Like you, I have faced major issues with my hair in the past. I remember the time when I decided to colour my hair and clearly mentioned to the hair stylist that I wanted it to be very subtle. I even showed references images to be clear. Well..only after you go back home does the reality kick in. I stared at the mirror in shock for a few minutes before I decided to do something about it. What did I end up with? Chunky blonde streaks on my jet black hair. Imagine the horror I had to go through.

I had to attend a very important meeting the next day and I couldn’t afford to look like someone out of a 1980s sitcom.

After consulting a couple of my friends and my mother, I decided to go to another hair stylist the same day to correct my colour. I had to attend a very important meeting the next day and I couldn’t afford to look like someone out of a 1980s sitcom. Well..I didn’t confront the hair dresser who made a mess out of my hair because I was just too kind (My bad!)

That day I learnt a very important lesson – NEVER ever hide your true feelings with the hair dresser. If you didn’t like the colour or cut, tell the hair stylist then and there. You paid for it and you deserve a good haircut. Shying away from confrontation with the stylist, not only makes you feel bad but the stylist might mess up other people‘s hair and get away with it. Let’s do some social service and not let that happen to someone else either! If he or she is a good stylist, they will try their best to fix it or assign a senior stylist to do a better job.

Next time you go to a stylist, be clear about what you want / show reference images and if you like the hair cut or colour, compliment them but if you didn’t be honest and ask them to fix it.

By the way, I got an amazing hair cut recently and my hair feels so healthy. You can view it HERE
