Shaving is one of the easiest ways to get rid of unwanted hair. With new products helping us to make this experience better, shaving has become the ‘go-to’ way to remove excess hair. However, there are still some tales around that makes us worry every time we decide to shave our legs.
Here are some hair-raising myths about shaving:
MYTH: Shaving causes hair to grow faster
Think again! Your hair grows at different rates depending on your age & gender. Your hair grows back the same colour as it’s naturally but might appear darker as it’s short. Also, different areas react in different ways to hair removal. For a smoother shave, exfoliate the area to remove dead skin cells.
MYTH: Shaving makes hair growth coarse & thick.
The growth of your hair is determined by your genes & hormones. Short & stumpy hair will always feel coarser and darker. However, once it grows back, it turns lighter.
MYTH: Shaving as soon as you get into the shower
This is completely wrong! Shave right after you take a shower (Not longer than 15 minutes) as this would soften the hair & open up the follicles.
MYTH: Dry shaving is ok
NEVER dry shave! No matter how in a hurry you’re avoid it completely. Use a shaving cream to avoid cuts. Dry shaving causes problems like irritation & flaky skin. A shaving cream makes the experience easier.
MYTH: Storing razors in the shower
Many of us have a habit of storing razors in the shower because it’s more accessible. Razors need to be kept somewhere dry or they can be prone to bacteria growth & rust.
