Recently,I was invited by Tommy Hilfiger to review their latest Fall/Winter 2011 collection .A huge thank you to Tommy Hilfiger India for giving me this opportunity to review their collection, yet again and all the people in the store (Bandra,Mumbai) for being so helpful.Tommy Hilfiger’s current collection mainly consists of stripes and plaids. It’s all about the 70s and the women’s collection has an androgynous feel to it.They have launched a new line of shirts for men called “The Tailored line” which inclines towards the formal side.I could see a lot of Stripes, small checkered shirts for men and dark florals, plaids and stripes for women with a 70s vibe.
Tommy Hilfiger Fall/Winter 2011 Women’s collection:

Bohemian Prep
The Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2011 women’s collection captures the nonchalant style of a 1970s
rock star’s girlfriend. Her style is based on a bohemian, feminine (re)interpretation of the
brand’s menswear heritage. She redefines preppy through her irreverent approach to classic
silhouettes. Whether she’s the subject of lyrics—or writing them herself—unstudied sexiness is
her trademark.
Borrowing from the boys, authentic menswear patterns are executed in feminine fabrications
like classic herringbone printed on silk and a traditional Foulard print with engineer stripes
on a fluid shirtdress and pajama pants. A narrow pleated pant beneath a sleeveless double-
breasted blazer creates new-shape suiting. Handcrafted chunky knits are updated and paired
with silk shirtdresses; insets of burgundy (the new red) and splices of color unexpectedly pop
up in classic pieces. Preppy outerwear— a khaki mac and a double-faced reversible canvas
jacket sporting rubber touches—add texture on texture to layered-up ensembles. Accessories
embrace twisted details in heeled penny loafers with needlepoint trim, a dop kit bag in ostrich,
brogue-inspired belts in pop colors and the new duffle cape— a wide scarf secured in the back
with a classic toggle. She dresses for herself—but she can’t help it that her particular brand of
chic seems to inspire everyone else.

Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2011 Men’s Collection

Indie prep
For Fall 2011, Tommy Hilfiger adopts the attitude of indie music as a new interpretation of
preppy. Governed by a bohemian sensibility that appeals to men of every age and station,
the collection is infused with unexpected styling and intriguing details that indicate how
Tommy Hilfiger’s signature prep style and youthful heritage continue to evolve. As indie
music meets classic sartorial, it expresses the modern spirit that the youthquake applies to
the brand’s classic shapes.
With a foundation of smart separates, the silhouette has been narrowed to reflect the
sharp, lean tailoring found in both boarding schools and Brooklyn clubs. Utilitarian pieces
are mixed into a repertoire of classics like claret moleskin blazers and Pendleton striped
shirting. Outerwear is a focal point as motorcycle jackets, bombers, toggle coats, and
bonded macs make the initial (and paramount) statement. Trousers are either slim-fit,
cargo, slouchy or track pant, complemented by chunky knits. Airforce blue has emerged
as the new navy, and burgundy the new red. They are frequently offset with grey and
energetic pops of color. Military details such as regimental stripes, lapel pins and armbands
play against pinstripes, colored sweaters, flannel suits, and oversized waffle stitch
cardigans. The addition of penny loafers, boat shoes and fabric ties complete the irreverent
effect. The result? An authentic ensemble that emerges as the new indie uniform.
